SD Hurricanes Wipe Out Two Opponents, Move Up to Second Place
The SD Hurricanes breezed through a pair of games to push their record to 5-2 and tie Code Blue for 2nd Place. Sharing was the theme in the opener against Mercenaries as two QBs took the snaps from center. Albert Bersley and Freddy Arcaina completed a combined 16 of 27 passes as the Canes continued their march towards the playoffs. Bersley was 9 of 15 for 107 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Arcaina was 7 of 12 for 118 yards and 2 scores. Arcaina also caught two touchdowns from Bersley, who caught a TD pass from Arcaina. Ikaika Dolfo hauled in the other two Hurricane touchdowns. The Canes' Azuma Franklin secured the win by locking down the defense and picking off two Mercenaries passes. One bright spot for the Mercenaries this season has been the emergence of rookie sensation Dell Barley. Barley caught 7 passes for 91 yards and hauled in all 3 of John Pistone's touchdown passes. In their second game, the SD Hurricanes twisted a short-handed Rampart 36-20. Rampart, once again without standout wide receiver Chris Jasper, suffered a tough loss and fell to 4th place with the loss. The Canes' Bersley was 15 of 24 passing for 211 yards and four touchdowns to four separate players. One of those players was Franklin, who had three receptions for 75 yards, one touchdown reception as well as an interception run back for a touchdown. Rampart star WR Marlon Dorn put up some good numbers with four receptions for 50 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on defense.

Code Blue Outlasts Mercenaries 37-19
Code Blue's squad was a bit more quiet and civil this week with the absence of safety Antwoin Harris. QB Casey Furtado was 22 of 27 passing for 226 yards and five touchdowns, three of which were connected to one of the "soup" brothers, Phill Souvanaphong, along with eight receptions for 70 yards. On defense, Harold Jones, Tony Souvanaphong and Casey Furtado each had one pick. The Mercenaries' QB John Pistone was 17 of 27 for 178 yards passing and three TDs, one each to Levi Gordy, Carl Balediata and Dell Barley. Barley also added an interception to his impressive Mercenaries résumé.

Code Blue Flatlines Crusaders 34-6
With their second game and second win on the night Code Blue has moved in to second place with a 5-2 record and is on a quest for a playoff spot. QB Casey Furtado was 19 of 22 passing for 292 yards and five touchdowns to five different receivers, one of which was connected to team captain Harold Jones III who also keyed the defense with interceptions to help seal the win.

Black Tide Washes Out Rampart 26-20
Black Tide has become a force to be reckoned with. With new jerseys and a new attitude, they're moving up in the XFF rankings and have become a Division 1 challenger. Rampart seems to be moving in the other direction, however. After a 9 position jump from #14 to #5 last week, they failed to field a full squad and fell to the Tide in a barnburner. With only four players - the most notable absence being key weapon, WR Chris Jasper - Rampart ran out of gas late and Black Tide capitalized on an interception return for touchdown by David Tran to turn the…tide. QB Huy "Wee" Nguyen led the Black Tide comeback with 15 of 28 passing for 167 yards and 2 TDs. Nguyen also scored on a 40-yard touchdown pass from Bruce Vu. Rampart's Sheldon King completed 11 of 26 passes for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns. Wideout Marlon Dorn was King's primary receiver with 5 catches for 124 yards and all 3 Rampart scores.

Stingrays Squeak Past Royal High 74-8
Okay, so there may have been a little bit of an unfair match up between these two teams but Royal High was brave and took their punishment like men. Stingrays QB Mike Stange would've been an amazing fantasy QB to pick up this week, completing 19 of 22 passes for a season high 390 yards and an astonishing nine touchdowns. Six, count 'em, six touchdown passes were completed to Balboa receiving leader, Deymon "D.O." Owens. Owens racked up a season high 10 catches for 238 yards and added 4 two-point conversions to score 44 of his team's 74 points. Next on the list is Stingrays big man, WR LaVon Lynch. Lynch took care of the other three Stange touchdown passes and scored another TD on an interception return. Add in 3 two-point conversions and Lynch scored 30 points.

"If you were to score 30 points, you'd think you would lead your team," Stange said. "That wasn't the case tonight. I can't remember ever seeing anyone rack up 6 TDs and 8 PATs in one game. I would think (Owens') records will stand for a while."

Stingrays safety Mike Harvey quietly increased his XFF-leading interception total to 8 with his two picks on the night and sack master Brian Nero bumped up his league leading total to 9. While the highlights for Royal High were few, wide receiver Jomar Gervacio made his one reception count as he found the end zone for his team's lone touchdown.

Pride Parades Past Crusaders 26-13
The struggling Crusaders were feeling optimistic and optimistic for a chance at another victory until it was apparent that their team QB, Neill Little, was not going to show. Struggling to keep afloat, Crusaders backup QB Paul Sayegh stepped up and took the Crusaders to the end zone on two separate scores assisted by WR Johnny "Shaka Laka" Saraka and Mike Sayegh. Saraka had five receptions for 76 yards while brother Mike Sayegh had five receptions for 49 yards. Pride showed charisma and QB Pat Danyo was not about to have his team fall below .500. Danyo was 10 of 17 passing for 166 yards and 4 touchdowns. Two Danyo TDs fell into the hands of WR Josh Denton, along with four receptions for 97 yards. On defense, Danyo pulled in two interceptions.

Pride Dethrones Royal High 26-6
Pride has now marched into a winning season improving their record to 4-3 with a victory over a struggling Royal High squad. Pride QB Pat Danyo was on 13 of 29 passing for 184 yards and four touchdowns. Danyo's primary receiver, Josh Denton, pulled in two Danyo TDs along with three receptions for 46 yards and two interceptions on defense. Royal High's WR Marvin Ramirez had the only score for his squad along with one reception for 55 yards.
